Today, Thursday, March 22, the Secretary of Tourism of the Government of the State of Sinaloa presented the Distinctive VEN A COMER to the winners of Category II “Establishments of A and B” and of Category III “Cooks”, which participated in this contest convened by SECTUR Federal in accordance with the Call published in 2017.
The delivery ceremony was held at the Clan Taniyama Restaurant, in the city of Culiacán, which was chaired by Mr. Juan Carlos Godoy Guzmán, who on behalf of Mr. Marco García Castro, Secretary of State Tourism, delivered the Badges; Engineer Jorge Jayme Esquerra, Vice President of CANIRAC ZONA CENTRO; Mr. Jaime Félix Pico, President of the Conservatory of Gastronomic Culture Sinaloense A.C. and Chef Miguel Taniyama, host.
The Chef was awarded in Category III “Cooks”. Elina Benítez de López, from the city of Los Mochis, and in Category II of A and B “Establecimientos” the Los Arcos Restaurant Group, with headquarters in the city of Culiacán, owned by the Angulo Brothers, received the Distinctive Mr. Heriberto López Cárdenas, Regional Director of the Pacific.
In his speech, with the representation of Secretary Marco García Castro, Lic. Juan Carlos Godoy said that the “Ven a Comer” Distinction was held in the second edition in Mexico, reaching this time to deliver 48 Badges in the 4 Categories, in 19 States of the Republic, including the present delivery in Sinaloa.
He said that the purpose of the Contest is to recognize those who work, from the gastronomic sector, for the rescue and safeguard of traditional Mexican cuisine that is Intangible Heritage of Humanity declared by UNESCO in 2010; It also obeys the guidelines established by the Public Policy for the Promotion of National Gastronomy, decreed by the federal government in 2015, with the aim of enhancing the gastronomic offer, strengthening the value chain of gastronomy, promoting tourism and extolling those national destinations that have positioned local gastronomy as a national and international benchmark.
Jorge Jayme Esquerra, Vice President of CANIRAC, in congratulating the award winners, exhorted restaurants and chefs to participate in these contests because they are a good way to evaluate and excel, especially those that have designed their gastronomic proposal based on traditional Mexican cuisine and the one of Sinaloa; It is a pride, he said, that two of our members have triumphed in their categories because they put Sinaloa very high, positioning it among the states where Sinaloan cuisine contributes to attracting and maintaining tourism.
Jaime Félix Pico, speaking on behalf of the Gastronomic Conservatory of Sinaloa, expressed his approval as both winners were proposed by the association as candidates to obtain the badge; Having achieved this, he said, he demonstrates the work that the Conservatory has been doing for 7 years in Sinaloa for the rescue, preservation, promotion and diffusion of Sinaloa’s cuisine, which also has its state declaration as Intangible Heritage of the State, another goal achieved the year 2016.
